Q: Looking to buy a 2003 Hyundai tiburon gt v6 with high mileage?
its got 260,000kms so around 160miles. what do u think? would it give me another 50,000 kms? hows the car for longevity. i know the newer hyundai's are better. is this one of them. also, how is it on insurance. i know it depends on the person but would it be alot since its a 2 door coupe? its the 5 speed by the way with leather and all. let me know what u think of the car
A: Obviously the current owner did a lot of long distance highway driving, so check the maintenance record to see if they kept the car running well and what repairs have already been performed. Have a mechanic inspect the car for you and then offer no more then $2000 unless there's been alot of new parts added recently. Since it's a V6 and manual it could definitely last another 75,000 km's.

A: Sounds like you need a new battery, are you still using the original? Car Batteries normally last 3-5 years depending on brand and usage. What did the repair shop suggest?

A: Just a warning...
They are sensitive to modifications as far as OBDII monitoring. Simply damaging the stock air filter box on the bottom half can cause lean/rich DTC's. Cold air kits do that all the time.
So as long as you aren't going to go crying to the dealership to "fix" the car for you, go for it. Just be sure it really is making more power and not simply more noise. Time acceleration before and after! Same vehicle temp, same section of road, same ambient temp.
Not to imply a cold air kit would not improve power, but get something proven to make a difference, not just some dryer ducting from Home Depot that was painted with chrome paint from Pep Boys.
There is a group of people that will be able to be more specific with modifications and what works. I only had to deal with "fixing" the cars after they were modified. The car was fine before the cold air kit, it was not after the cold air kit. Yes, you are totally correct sir, the cold air kit couldn't possibly be the source of your concern... He, he.

Q: Hyundai Tiburon GT Manual 2003--please no biased anwsers?
I'm thinking of getting a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT manual with about 60k miles on it. I was just wondering if anyone had something to say about a tiburon that they owned for maybe they knew someone with a tiburon around 2003 and if they were satisfied with it? I was reading some stuff in this complaints thing online and it's pretty scary because something about the slutch going out seems to come up alot in the 2003 models. I know people all have their preferances and will tell me that their particular brand of car is superior to everyone elses, and I just need a REAL GOD HONEST opinion or anwser and none of that biased "my car is better than your car" crap I've known 2 people that have had Hyundai's and they said they were the best cars they've had, but I don't want to not have more stats before I actually buy the car.
A: I own a 2003 Tiburon GT!!!!!!!!! A very good car, yes the clutch is bad as other people have stated, but i have a aftermarket clutch in my tibby anyways. Its a good buy, ive actually beat a sting ray with my tibby, lol, and i got it all on film for a research paper. I own some other cars, but I like my tibby. mine has a slight probelm going off to the sides, but its time for a alignment and I need to adjust the brakes. That should fix my probelm.

Q: 2003 Hyundai Tiburon 5 ?
I have a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon with 83K miles on it. Sometimes after driving, when I stop the car and try to put the car in neutral it gets stuck in gear. If I turn the car off, then I am able to move the stick freely though all the gears. It does not happen everytime, and I cant find a pattern.
A: Its sounds like your master or slave cylinder is losing pressure. From being a Hyundai Master (Platinum) Tech for 8 yrs I typically see the master cyliner fail contaminaing the fluid. Sending the contaminated fluid into slave requiring both Clutch master, and Clutch Slave cylinder to be replaced and bled to correct problem. Be sure to flush lines of bad fluid.

A: It's a good car, but you are right about the price, its lower then normal. www.kbb.com and www.nada.com value the car at $6-7K. See if the dealer will let you get the car inspected by an independent mechanic before deciding to buy, that is an awesome deal if the car is straight.
Q: Has anyone else had problems with Hyundai Tiburon clutch and flywheel 2003 or newer?
I have a 2003 Tiburon. Only 40k miles. I have had nothing but problems and now the clutch and flywheel are burned up. Over $2000 to fix and its not covered under Hyundai's "awesome" warranty.
A: dude! dude! dude! no no no no no no no!, fuck the dealership, go to a racers garage and get that shi7 fixed for a less then a K, with freaking re-inforced titanium!

anyone have problems pulling the cover on the sunroof back in there 2003 tiburon??
A: There have been many problems with these sunroofs. Usually when the shades are difficult or refuse to move, one or both shades have to be replaced. They are - Rear $103.00, Front $120.00.
There is also a set of 'cams' that assist the shades along their track. These are plastic which break and wear after time. They are about $5.00 each.
The biggest factor is labor since the headliner (and with it, everything on the ceiling) may need to come down.
Q: 2003 Hyundai Tiburon Problems galore. Help!?
I have a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon and i swear, something new breaks down in it everyday and i really do take great care of this car. Any suggestions on any of this would be so great. Here are the problems:
1- I go over 60 mph and my car starts to shake. If i go under 60 my tires are extremely loud.
2- My air conditioning is broken and I was told there is a leak in the hose? However when i turn the heat on, the vent by the passengers side door makes some rattling noise?
3- My speedometer after i hit around 60 mph will start to go to 0, then up to 30mph, then back to 0, then up to 60, then back down the 0mph, the whole time im driving. It seems as though my RPM gage is off as well.
4- The carpet on the drivers side floor board is ripped about a foot long. How do i even go about replacing that?
5- I have a small patch of rust on the outside of my car
6- When im turning a sharper corner, it sounds as though my transmission starts to rattle.
7- I sometimes can't get my car in reverse. I have to sit there and jimmy it to get it to go in reverse...

This is NOT a fake question!! I have 76k miles on there. I bought it with 14k and since i have had it, I have made sure to keep all maintenance up to date.
A: Fake question alert!!! She forgot to mention that the doors lock themselves, the windows fall out each time she closes them, the exhaust is hanging so low that sparks fly while driving, the rear view mirror has 666 written on it and their's a snake living in the trunk!

Q: 2003 Hyundai Tiburon power door locks dont work! help!! ?
Just bought a 2003 Tiburon gt 6 speed and usually when you sit in a car put the key in the ignition.. the doors automatically lock.. but this one does not do that! the doors do not have a lock/unlock button either.. but i have keyless entry.. so i don't know what is up with that.. I just need the locks to automatically lock when i put the key in and automatically open when i take the key out..
also the trunk does not open with the button on the door.. I have to manually open it with the key.. the car came with a custom built sub woofer box in the trunk and there is no room for any thing else. could that be why thepreviouss owner disabled this function?

A: The 2003 does not lock the doors automatically. The lock on the door will lock and unlock both doors only. The trunk does not open with a key less entry... you do have a button on the lower part of the drivers door that will open the trunk... just above the one to open the gas tank cover. If I understand right that one does not work, so you need to get it repaired.
