Q: How do you change the automatic transmission oil filter in a 2006 hyundai tiburon?
i have a 2006 hyundai tiburon and i can not find where the transmission oil filter is. Also any pictures would be useful as well as a description of where it is on my car. thanks i bought one for an auto parts store, maybe its not transmition, something else with a "T" I'm just the messenger. I know its some type of oil filter, but not the regular one

A: The filter is "inside" the transmission and cannot be serviced. You have to get a flush to get it cleaned. Your not supposed to tamper with it because you could void your warranty. If you're not having any issues with your transmission don't touch it. Just remember to change your fluid every 30,000 miles with Hyundai/Kia (SP 3) fluid. I know this goes for my Elantra but check with your dealer to see if this is also the case for your Tib. I'm fairly sure it's the same.

Q: how can i start my car with just a key without the anti-theft going off? it's a hyundai tiburon?
It is a 2003 Hyundai tiburon. The guys at the auto shop say it won't start because the anti-theft system keeps going off

A: You need to lock and unlock the door with the key. It will disable the security until you use the keyless again.

Q: Is a Hyundai Tiburon a good vehicle?
I might be getting a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon, and I was wondering what you guys think of this vehicle.

A: Yes it is. Fun to drive. Cheap. Great interior quality. Great looking. Smooth engine. The 4 cylinder Tiburon is more reliable. If you get a manual transmission, there will be a problem. The Tiburons have problems with the clutch. The clutch wears out fast, but if you get an automatic, you will be fine. Overall, it is a reliable and great car.

Q: Does anyone know what the newest engine would be that would fit into my 98 hyundai tiburon!?
I am trying to majorly spruce up my ride! I don't know a lot about cars but want to learn and I need a new engine for my 98 hyundai tiburon but I don't know if there are only one type of engine that would fit it or if I can go with a newer year of engine. Please, if some who is knowlegable in the area of cars can give me any help I would greatly appriciate it!

A: You can use one from a Tiburon all the way up to 2001. You may need to use the flywheel from the new engine and use crank spacer depending upon the production date of your vehicle.

Q: What are the pros and cons of a 1999-2002 Hyundai Tiburon?
I am looking to buy a new (well, new for me but technically used) car for under 3000$. I have had my eye on a tiburon, and i would like to know the pros and cons of owning that kind of car. I am more interested in the cons. I would especially appreciate answers from owners of the cars. Thank you.

A: They're pretty reliable, and having the same engine as the Elantra (or Lantra, depending on which country you're in..) they're easy to get parts for. Just make sure its been serviced according to the log book, and if the timing belt has been replaced, check whether the timing belt tensioner has been replaced also as they are prone to failure if they haven't been replaced at the timing belt service. In short, look after it and it will, in turn, look after you.

Q: high beam light not working on 1998 hyundai tiburon?
i cannot get the high beam indicator in the dash to work on my hyundai tiburon. the bulb is good and the high beams work. my fog lights also do not work. plz help!!!! i cannot get the high beam indicator in the dash to work on my hyundai tiburon. the bulb is good and the high beams work. my fog lights also do not work. plz help!!!! The shop where i took it to said I need that for saftey!

A: Did the shop not offer you a solution? It sounds like wiring, a relay or a fuse. The two problems may not be related. Check the relay for the fog lights. It is located in the dash panel below the steering wheel - $15.00 from Hyundai. If it is getting power, the relay is probably bad. Or both bulbs are out - $15.00 each. Do all of your dash lights work when the headlights are on? The bulb may look ok and still could be bad. Some bulbs blow without the normal black burn marks, loose parts or white stain. Changing the bulb would be the cheapest way to test. There could be a loose wire behind the instrument panel. There could be a bad connection between your multi-function switch (the lever you move back and forth) and the bulb. Try adjusting the dimmer switch. If the relay and bulb don't fix it, I would suggest a new multi-function switch $80.00 from Hyundai.

Q: I'm thinking of buying a hyundai tiburon is this smart?
A friend of mine told me to stay away from hyundai cars because they won't last long, that it might make it to 100,000 miles. Is this true? I love the look of the tiburons and I don't really like the look of other cars. I was looking for something sporty like the 1980's camaro. I'm not liking the new camaro much. Any suggestions on other vehicles if the tiburon is junk?

A: I have not found Hyundai cars to be junk. I have a 2003 Tiburon that I bough new and wanted to see how good it was. (and yes I can afford to junk it if not good) By its performance I bough a Azera Limited and am very pleased with it also. I took the Tiburon on a trip a few week ago that covered about all kinds of driving(3500 miles and about half of that was at 80 MPH) and temperatures and was very pleased with the car. I averaged about 27 MPG which is not bad for the V6 and a lot better than other cars with about the same size engine. People put 200 to 300 thousand miles on them and Hyundai cars are now better than before so I'd say it is hard to call them junk. People also say they don't hold their value... well just keep in mind that you paid less for the car to start with so their value will not be as a car you paid more for.

Q: What is the thread size of the shifter knob on a hyundai tiburon?
I'm trying to buy a new one for my brother who lives in maimi. i live in buffalo so i cant ask him or go find out. does anyone who has a tiburon know what the thread size is or can you find out? that'd be great! thanks !

A: you just have to go to a Tiburon customization website. Search for Tiburon shifter knobs on Google. The auto websites will know what size fits the Tiburon.

Q: Does anyone know the crash test rating for a 1997 automatic Hyundai Tiburon?
I found a Tiburon I'd like to buy, but my parents need to know the crash test rating first. Does anyone know?

A: It's highly doubtful that anyone in this forum will know that off the top of their head, Hollie. The easiest and best way to get that information would be to contact Consumer Reports; you can likely find the mag at any good bookstore or might even be able to get their contact information online. Good luck; I'm confident you can find out either tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest. Please, be careful if you do buy one; guessing it's a rather small vehicle.

Q: How much horse power and torque can a stock Hyundai Tiburon GT's transmission handle?
i have a 2004 Tiburon GT(5 speed manual) and i wanted to get a turbocharger put in it but im afraid the transmission wont be able to handle the amount of hp and torque i want to put in my car. i can afford a new transmission but i dont want to get one if i dont need it.

A: wow.. that's good car "5 speed" i buy GTs 2008 "4 speed" 5 speed is not allowed in our country because alot of power in Small car is dangerous

Q: Is the Hyundai Tiburon any good for a sporty car?
I have never bought Hyundai before. My wife has a 2001 Accent which is pretty crap. Are the newer models worth the money. When you look at what you get for the price they look like a great deal but I am worried about reliability and quality. Any experiences will be greatly appreciated, especially from mechanics etc. Thankyou.

A: Reliable, hell yes, ranked #7 our of 36 brands by consumer reports...higher then any Euro or US brand. Quality, hell yes, ranked #3 by JD Power...higher then Toyota even. As for the Tiburon, I've never driven it but it has been popular for awhile. It is a sporty car, not much of a sports car since its not very powerful or fast. There aren't many sporty cars in its class unless you count the Civic coupe as being sporty or want one of the GM brand 2 seaters.

Q: Difference between Hyundai Tuscani and Hyundai Tiburon?
What is the difference between a Hyundai Tiburon and a Hyundai Tuscani. And what are the differences in the Tiburon from 2003 - 2006? ( GT )

A: The Tuscani is the Tiburon, just not sold in the U.S. It's only difference is interior trim and Tuscani Labels.(Back of car, steering wheel). It is NOT any better in performance. It is legal to drive in the U.S. It's pretty much just a fancier version of the Tiburon. They may be worth more money because they are a little more fancy. That's it... The 2003 and 2004 Tiburons have a different front bumper than the 2005 and 2006. And, the 2005 and 06 Tiburons have a few more safety features.

Q: Is a PT Cruiser faster or slower than a Hyundai Tiburon sports car?
This is for research for my Nano mss I'm editing. I know by research last year that a Cruiser has more mileage than a Hyundai. Does anyone know on its speed, like by chasing a car?

A: The hyundai tiburon is faster. Heres the stats: PT Cruiser- 0-60 9.6 seconds Top Speed 118mph (srry i dnt know alot about pt cruisers) Hyundai Tiburon- 2.0 litre: Acceleration 0-60 mph: 9.2 seconds Top speed: 130 mph (209 km/h) 2.7 litre: (Automatic) Acceleration 0-60 mph: 8.2 seconds Top speed: 132 mph (212 km/h) 2.7 litre: (GT 5-speed) Acceleration 0-60 mph: 7.7 seconds Top speed: 137 mph (220 km/h) 2.7 litre: (SE 6-speed) Acceleration 0-60 mph: 7.2 seconds Top speed: 145 mph (233 km/h)

Q: What is the deal with hyundai tiburon's headroom?
Before fully test driving a tiburon, is it a car for tall people? My height is around 5 ft. 11 in. and my weight is nothing to worry about. I keep hearing that it has very little headroom, but maybe that's for the back seats? I hope it won't be a problem, I am very interested in those cars!

A: They are talking about the back seats, I'm the same height as you and sit up straight when driving and had no issue with the roof on my test drive. Like most 2 door sporty cars, the back seat is for kids or really small adults 5 ft or less. Its a fun little car even with the 4 cylinder. I was just helping my mom, I already own an Azera.

Q: 04 Hyundai Tiburon, 5-sp, what is the button by the shifter.?
I just purchased an 04 Hyundai Tiburon, 5-sp. what is the button on the plastic casing around the shifter for? It is on the dash side of the plastic and has a green light when turned on, on the button. I searched in my owners manual and wasn't able to find it anywhere.

A: It sounds like something aftermarket. I looked at an '04 Tib just now and there is nothing in that area. Can you take a picture of it and post it to a myspace page if you have one? I'll look at it and see if I can tell you what it may be.
