My Sonata's "check enging light" came on this morning. The car is under full warrenty with 21,000 miles.
I live on Maui and the only Hyundai Dealer closed 3 weeks ago.
What to do?
A: Call hyundai and tell them you have no dealership on the island and what you should do. They have to honor the warranty through another garage I would think.
Q: 2004 Hyundai Sonata clutch question?
This may sound crazy, but the clutch on my Sonata only seems to act up when it is hot outside! It will be fine in the cool hours of the AM, then later on it gets "hard" to push down (no problem changing gears). I know I need to have it looked at, but just the other day, when I stepped on the clutch, it went to the floor and stayed there. Later that evening, when I came home, the clutch had come back up and "seemed" fine. Has anyone ever heard of this before?

A: the clutch is hydraulic meaning it uses fluid pressure to move it.your having a problem with clutch master or slave cylinder,get it checked before you get stuck !! or worst case if it fails when you are in traffic with it in gear the car will go foward even when your foot is on clutch

It's a 2004 with 52,000 miles.It looks to be in great shape.The dealer wants $10,500 for it.Is it a reliable car?I am also looking at a 1999 Jeep Grnad Cherokee Limited for the same price.That has 66,589 miles on it which is excellent for it's age but some lenders don't like supplying loans for older vehicles.

I sell new Hyundais and new Hondas. The Hyundai is every bit as good a car as a Honda, and lasts just as long. In fact Hyundai out ranks Honda in initial quality and consumer satisfaction (#3 in the world, Honda #5).
10,500 for a 2004 is a great buy. DON'T buy the jeep.
Q: 2004 Hyundai Sonata has very bad noise when going over ruts.?
Hyundai dealer and regular mechanic could not find problem. Noise is awful. Passenger rear tire area. Like metal is being "scrunched and squeaks". A third mechanic said the brake dust shield was bent, corrected it, no noise for trial drive. But noise is back.

Q: 2004 Hyundai Sonata check engine light at 32000 miles, code read as O2 sensor, but went back off. Warranty?
Put 5 gals gas in, clicked cap 3xs & a few miles later, the chk eng lite went on. Ironically, I *just* rolled over to 32,000 on the nose. Took to AutoZone this am, they won't read codes anymore (as of Jan '08) but for a refundable fee of $149.99+tax they'll let you use theirs and will help you work it. It showed the o2 sensor needed to be fixed. Okay, I have the 10/100K warranty, no prob. But I knew I needed an oil change and air filter replacement, so jogged over and had that done. Strangely enough, the chk eng lite was back off. Guy at Kragens who sold me the air filter thought maybe someone had d/c the battery during the oil change (why?) and to run it abt 100 mi to see if it goes back on. My concern is this, will the lite have to be on in order for my dealer to replace the sensor under the warranty? Is there any other way the sensor went off & gave a false + for the o2? W/out making cracks about Hyundai, it seems the O2 sensors go out often, is this a prob? BTW, mine is a manual.
A: usually when i scanned o2 sensor code on my car.
first i think o2 sensors reading o2 amount in exhaust gases.if showing me the error code it is not mean something wrong with it! too much o2 detected in your exhaust so you possible had air or vacuum leak first time you got the code. but after somebody had change your o2 sensor may he didn't do good job and you have more trouble on your car. good luck!

Q: Hyundai Sonata 2004 Car. Need to duplicate key. No ID key.No PIN.Only have 1 Master key. Any ideas?
Bought car 2nd hand. Manual says ID key needed before Master key can be duplicated. But I was only given 1 key- theMaster key. Authorised parts dealer cut a duplicate key but says duplicate key cannot be coded - so unable to start engine. Any way out other than to change the whole car immobilizer system? Also, there seems no way to contact Hyundai in Sydney. They seem to have outsourced all their service and parts. Web search reveals ONLY Hyundai dealers interested only in selling cars.
A: The Hyundai dealers should be able to oreder you a new key. My husbands Ford truck is that way and we had to order one.
