Q: How big is the steering wheel in a Hyundai Sonata vs. Elantra?
My husband and I are going to kill each other over this, Is the Hyundai Sonata steering wheel bigger than the Elantra or are they both the same? Help before we kill one another!!! Or do you know where we could find out?

A: I did not actually measure them but I did work on them( Hyundai ) for 10 years. I say the same, bigger cars do not always mean bigger wheel. To be 100% sure though you will have to call the dealer, tell them to get the tape measure out Etc. I think who ever said the same, WINS!!..........................................OK Put the frying pan down now! lol JK.

Q: What is the cost to replace the left front wheel bearing on a 2000 Hyundai Sonata?
How much would it cost to replace my front left wheel bearing on my 2000 hyundai sonata. Im hoping it doesn't cost to much seeing im a student and don't have a lot of cash. Estimate or possible range would be nice.

A: For labor, it takes from 1 to 2 hours a wheel. That can be $70-$150 an hour, depending on where you get them replaced. If you want a deal on wheel bearings, go to http://mibearings.com and fill out the form on the right side. They will send you an email with a price and link to the bearing. I hope that helps!

Q: What tires should I consider for my '07 Hyundai Sonata SE?
I just bought an '07 Hyundai Sonata that has Goodyear tires on it(not a fan of Goodyear). I live in upstate New York, and most of my driving is highway miles. This car does have a 264 hp v-6, so will probably want to go with a higher performance rating tire. Suggestions?

A: i would wear out what it's using, the go to Michelin Triple Edge tires. 90K warranty, good in all weather conditions.

Q: Hyundai Sonata hybrid coming out any time soon?
Is there any speculation or confirmation on a Hyundai Sonata (or any Hyundai for that matter) Hybrid being made?

A: I don't see any news about Hyundai going the Hybrid route or the diesel route either in the next 2 years with any vehicles. Alot of companies will be rolling out diesel cars/trucks in the next 2 years (Honda, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo) for US sale instead of more hybrids. New diesel engines are more efficient and last longer then hybrid's for about the same price. The current 4 & 6 cylinder Sonata engines are fairly fuel efficient and hybrid sales still remain a fraction of all vehicle sales, demand just isn't as high as the media makes it out to be. The Hyundai Hellion concept does have a diesel engine, so its likely Hyundai will have a few diesel cars available by 2010/2011 model year at the latest.

Q: difficulty starting hyundai sonata when tank more than half full?
My 2003 Hyundai Sonata has difficulty starting when the gas tank is more than half full. It starts fine when the tank is below the half-full level. Any ideas what might be causing this?

A: the actual level of gasoline in the gas tank should not have any effect on starting the car. perhaps there is another reason.

Q: gas tank recall on my 1997 Hyundai Sonata?
I have a 1997 Hyundai Sonata that has a recall on gas tank. How long does the recall stay in affect?

A: Recalls stay in effect until they are completed. Your recall is #044 and it would only take a half hour to complete.

Q: Size difference between Hyundai Sonata and a Honda Civic?
Hi. I think my dad is trying to buy a new car, and he seems to have a 2006 Hyundai Sonana in mind. As of now, I would personally prefer him buying a Civic, but Civics look smaller than Sonatas to me. Can someone tell me which is the bigger car? If the Civic is not that smaller than the Sonata or they're pretty much the same size, I'd ask him to consider buying the Civic instead. Have a nice day.

A: The Sonata is larger and has more safety features then the Civic with just as good of reliability ratings for the same price. The Civic gets better gas mileage and will cost a bit less to maintain as parts are super easy to find as well as depreciates slower. Here's a comparison, http://www.edmunds.com/apps/nvc/edmunds/VehicleComparison?styleid=100933857&styleid=100886113&maxvehicles=5&refid=&op=3&tab=specs

Q: 97 hyundai sonata transmission control module replacement?
would it be worth buying a 97 hyundai sonata with a v6 for $3000.00 if I have to replace the trans control module. I know its under the heater box. is it easy to replace? or better yet how do I install the part and what else would I have to do to get the check eng. light to turn off?

A: if you have a hoist it would make the job easir but its on top on the gearbox.

Q: What is the difference between a hyundai Sonata and a Hyundai Azera?
New models, cosmetically, are barely different. And they are only less than 10 cm longer. So why is the Azera cionsidered full-size while the Sonata is only midsize????

A: I used to be a big Azera fan, but with the dramatic upgrade in the Sonata, and the introduction of the Genesis, I don't see the point in the Azera. The Sonata dominates the Accord and Camry hands-down in every category. The Genesis is by far the finest luxury car available under $80k, and full loaded is only half that. Add to this that all of these vehicles carry a warranty that blows everyone else away, and a JD Power reliability rating that trails only Porche and Lexus. And to the "know more about jets" dude - I'll buy the best car available for the money, no matter who makes it (right now, that's Hyundai - and unlike other carmakers, they're still improving even further). And unless you've flown them (as I have), you don't know more about jets than me; apparently not cars either. .

Q: How many miles does your Hyundai Sonata have on it?
I have a 2001 Sonata with 107,000 miles on it. I don't know if I should buy a new car or if this car still has some life left in it.

A: nissan and honda are nice, but you wont get the quality you would want out of them. therefore i recommend Toyota. and as for the hyundai.....roll it off a cliff. it isnt worth much. hope this helps! have a good day!

Q: How do I fix the electrical problems in my '00 Hyundai Sonata?
There is something wrong with the electronics on my 2000 Sonata. The radio lights come on but it doesn't work. The clock is on, but it doesn't work, and there are various warning lights that flash on and off on the dashboard display. My wife was told it was some sort of computer chip. What is that chip called and how much might it cost to replace?

A: Sounds like you need a new head unit (dash). You can usually get a re-built unit, you exchange yours at the same time. Another option is getting one from the wreckers.

Q: Can someone PLEASE explain to me where i find the valet switch in a Hyundai sonata???
I recently purchased a Hyundai Sonata 1998 GLS and am trying to add another remote to it as the remote that came with the car is falling apart. Does the car need to have a valet switch to do this or is there another way to do it? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated :)

A: I not sure what you are asking.. the valet switch and remote are two different things. The valet switch should be found inside the glove box.

Q: Does anyone know where the timing marks would be on a 98 Hyundai Sonata?
The timing belt broke on my Sonata. Of course I dont have an owners manual, but I think I have it figured out. I just need to know where the timing marks are.

A: Should be notches or dots on cam sprocket and on the Harmonic Balancer....Need to put at TDC and match the dots or notches on Cam sprocket too the dot on the head and block for balancer

Q: Can i have seat covers with heated seats in my Hyundai Sonata?
I have a 2006 Hyandai Sonata with leather heated seats. Can i get seat covers with heated seats?

A: Yes you can cover the seats but be sure the cover you buy is compatible with airbags. The driver's side airbags are located in the seat back, not the wall. Below is a website that guarantees the seat covers are for use in Hyundai with side airbags. Be careful when installing that you don't unplug or bind up the wiring underneath. www.coverallusa.net/hyundai

Q: How do you replace a speed sensor on a FWD car(hyundai sonata)?
I have a 01 Sonata GLS that needs a new input speed sensor, located on the tranny.I found the part online and figured Id fix it myself, but Im clueless as to how to do it-Is it simply just popping the old one out and putting the new one in,or do wires need to be cut and attached and all that? Thanks for any help

A: Your most important consideration is whether you have the proper car ramps and jack stands to safely support the car while your working under it. If not, you can't do the work anyways. Most sensors have a connector which you detach to install a new one. See if http://www.autozone.com has any repair information. Otherwise try your local public library's Chiltons and Motors manuals or a http://www.haynes.com manual for your car. http://www.rhinoramps.com/product.html
