Q: My 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe has 45,000 miles -?
Sometimes, when I shift into Drive from Park or Reverse, it gives a bit of a "shimmy". It seems to "buck" . This happens as I try to gas it gently when beginning to move. This happens when the car has been driving for a while. It is not cold. The repair shop at the dealer cannot find a problem. Has anyone had anything similar going on with them? I would love to hear from you! Thanks -

A: Check the Transmission fluid. Is it 4wd? If it 4wd then it might be in the differential. If that's OK then go to the dealer when the car is hot and show them the problem. Make them put a note in your file so that when the tranny needs replacing they will have a record of all the times you have had a problem and will be more inclined to fix it under warranty. Best of luck.

Q: Hello I am looking for where to buy hyundai santa fe 2003 model 2.7L V6 power steering pressure & return hose?

A: Go to this web site: http://www.hyundaiusa.com/ Click on "Shopping Tools" and scroll down to "Dealer Locator". Put in your address to find the nearest dealers. Or you could try NAPA at: http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPages/NOLWelcome.aspx Or AutoZone at: http://www.autozone.com/

Q: What is the difference between The hyundai santa fe "GLS" and the "LX" more specific the 2003 model?

A: I have a 2005 so I think they are probably similar. When we were looking the LX usually had leather and the 3.5 engine. The GLS usually had the 2.7L. Also, the LX could have a sunroof.

Q: Hyundai Santa Fe Owners?
Asking all Santa Fe owners, did you like having this car? I was looking at a 2003 Santa Fe. I am going to be 16 soon and my parents and I are looking for a good, safe, reliable car. Thanks for your input!

A: At 16 I am Curious about you wanting a sports utility vehicle. LOL However, they really are great vehicles and I think you would enjoy it. You and your parents should take a look at the site below. It will give you a variety of answers. Including but not limited to safety information. :) While I don't own a Hyundai Santa Fe, I do drive them all the time as I work for a Hyundai dealer. :) Good Luck and look around a SONATA or an Accent would be a nice choice for a 16 yr old.

Q: What do you think of Hyundai Santa Fe?
why are people selling 2002, 2003 or even 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe so cheap, like $4000-$6000? Is it a bad car? is it a gas guzzler? http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ctd/784251923.html

A: That's the normal depreciation on an SUV, minivans are even cheaper. I've seen 2 year old minivans for sale less then 1/2 their original cost with under 50K miles. As someone else said, the one you linked is very high miles, so $5000 is enough for it. Most vehicles lose 1/2 their value after 3 years, that's why a 2-4 year old car is considered the best value and a new car is the worst value. The Santa Fe is an above average vehicle for the years you mentioned and excellent the last couple years. Its not a gas guzzler, about average fuel economy for a mid-size SUV. I own an Azera and plan to get either a Santa Fe or Veracruz in a couple years to replace our Quest.

Q: Santa Fe Extended Warranty?
Okay..heres the deal. I recently bought a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe with 50000 miles on it. I was offered an extended warranty of 3 year/36000 bumper to bumper and I took it. After looking over the paper work the warranty is going to cost $2400! I can get the contract canceled without charge because it hasn't been 25 days. Should I just take the chance and go without it? The Carfax report was clean. Isn't that a bit much for a warranty? Thank you guys for any advice

A: I bought a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe new. Mine has 20,100 miles on it. I was a single female when I bought the extended warranty - the whole package. It's now 4 years later, and I've never had to use it! It's a bit pricey, but if you compare it with oh, let's say, a new transmission, it's well worth it. Guess it all boils down to whether or not you know how to fix cars, or ifg you have a great mechanic .. I don't regret buying mine. Hope this helps. (at 50,000 miles, I surely hope your Santa Fe wasn't ridden hard and put up wet -- seems like a lot of miles).

Q: All Hyundai Santa Fe Owners only. What do you get for gas mileage on a 2.7 litre V6 (2003 preferably).?
If you live in a climate where the temp is around -20 to -40 in the winter, your info is especially valuable. Basically Canadian climate!!

A: 32 highway 27 stop and go driving

Q: Hyundai Santa Fe 4x4 or 4x2?
Hi: I'm looking for a Santa Fe 2002, 2003, 2004, and found that the 4x4 option is ALL THE TIME All wheel drive without an option of turning it off. Are there any Santa Fe models where its optional. Where you can turn on 4x4 option and also use front wheel drive option on dry conditions? Frustrating.. (I've been researching this car for weeks now, and still new issues arise everyday.. lol) Thanks!

A: Hey Jenna, No unfortunatly the sante fe does not have the option of turning its all wheel drive on and off, But lets evaluate the difference between 4X4 and all wheel drive... There is a difference, If you were to jack up a 4X4 so that all the tires are off the ground and egauge the 4 wheel drive you will note that only one front tire and one rear tire will be turning, if you walk up to the car and grab the turning tire it will stop and the other tire will start turning. that is due to 4 wheel drives are actually only 2 wheel drive ( 2 wheel drives are actually 1 wheel drive ) because the engine is only controlling two of the tires through a limited slip defferential, distributing power to the tire with the less traction ( resistance) If you did the same thing to a all wheel drive vehicle you would notice that all 4 tires are turning while its in the air if you walk up and grab one you will get hurt.. thats because all the tires are in-dependant, and there is no transfer of power, Thus giving you better traction and manuvering ability than a 4x2 or a 4x4 ( Buy the way front wheel drive is better used on ice, snow and mountain areas while rear wheel better on dry roads ) In my professional oppinion all vehicles should be all wheel drive, Also most of your newer 4x4's are not even controlled by the driver they come with an ATC module which stands for automatic traction control meaning the car senses what tires need to be engauged and does this automaticaly for you, well i hope this helped you out some... on a 4x 2 its actually one wheel drive because the engine only controls one tire that why when your stuck only one tire spins.

Q: The airbag warning lighjt stays on in my 2003 santa fe LXHyiundai. Is it safe to drive until next monday?
I took it by the Hyundai dealer today and he gave me an appt for next monday. They told me it's okay to drive but the airbag wouldn't deploy if in got into an accident. Is this a normal occurence from time to time with airbags?

A: Of course the car is safe to drive. Unless, of course, you are an unsafe driver. People drove cars for at least 50 years before airbags were even invented, and the population is still here. You just have to drive safely and defensively. Did the airbag make you forget how to do that? Don't depend on the airbag, depend on yourself.

Q: How reliable is the Hyundai Santa Fe?
If I was to buy a 2003 with 80,000 or so miles, can it still last a couple of years, or should I just buy a nissan frontier, or tacoma.

A: they realy havent been out long enough to tell you that yet

Q: Should Hyundai Santa Fe warranty cover the damage to the driveshaft?
We have a 2002 Santa Fe with damaged driveshaft and rear differential. We had been involved in one accident in 2003 - someone rear-ended us and we had to replace the rear bumper, exhaust, and muffler..after that, the car didn't sound or felt the same as before. One time, we had the car checked out for unusual noise at Hyundai dealer while getting an oil change. They said nothing wrong with the car. But last month, we were stopped at a light and heard a loud cracking noise and the car started vibrating uncontrollably when tried to drive. We had it towed to a local service station, then after finding out what the problem was, towed it to the dealer b/c at first they said it's covered under 10yr warranty. However, the car's still sitting there b/c they now say we probably got in another accident and caused the damage, so no warranty. The insurance company that took our claim says they're not responsible b/c it's not due to the accident. now dealer saying warranty only 5yr. Any advice?

A: Hyundai is notorious for denying warranty related issues for any little thing they can find fault with. However, there is no legal way that they can claim the accident was directly related to the driveshaft failure, which Hyundai has had many problems related to this component. I would advise you to contact www. Consumer Affairs .com and write your complaint on the Hyundai page- you will see thousands of complaints about Hyundai relating to their warranty which they claim to be the best although reality shows otherwise. Consumer will contact a lawyer for you and help you out. In any event, it will be tough- Hyundai has good lawyers.

Q: Hyundai GPS Navigation?
I recently purchased a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe for my mother to drive around town. I noticed in the owner's manual diagram for the heat and air system, the car is clearly shown as having a navigation system in the picture. I can not find where Hyundai has ever had an available navigation system. Does anyone have any information on this, if they were ever available, I would like to purchase a unit for her car

A: Hello, I'm Korean. i want to say something about this question so I came in. Actually Hyundai made Hyundai's GPS navigation 'Mozen'/ But mozen is only able to used in Korea. Because Hyundai thought 'If we add navigation system, we lose lots of money.' So Hyundai didn't add navigation to America models. If you have another question about Hyundai, send e-mail.

Q: Sante Fe Warranty?
Okay..heres the deal. I recently bought a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe with 50000 miles on it. I was offered an extended warranty of 3 year/36000 bumper to bumper and I took it. After looking over the paper work the warranty is going to cost $2400! I can get the contract canceled without charge because it hasn't been 25 days. Should I just take the chance and go without it? A: For $2400 bucks-cancel the thing. Most Hyundais come with a 10 year/100k mile powertrain warranty anyway. Sounds like your dealer is getting greedy.

Q: What are my rights as to the auto insurance claim process?
My situation: 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe 4 cyl 40,700miles purchased:2/17/2007 for 11,000.00 put 5000.00 down Wrecked 2/24/2007 deemed total loss by insurance company full coverage policy. Received offer within one week for 8600.00 before paying deductible 500.00, I refused the offer because because it is worth more than 8600.00. They told us they were only obligated to give us payoff amount(lie#1) I obtained an independent appraiser per my policy. The insurance company refused to talk to my appraiser and refused to hire one for their side(per their own policy). They told my appraiser they had to be licensed in Texas(lie#2)My appraiser is a national company. They told me the report my appraiser produced was not good because none of the vehicles compared to mine were in Texas. (Lie#3) I turned them into the Texas Department of Insurance. The then told us they hired an appraiser and they would be contacting mine. That was almost 2wks ago, still nothing. Do I have a legal case? Kelley Blue Book listing for my car, with low mileage and excellent condition is about 14,300

A: As far as I know, insurance only has to pay what the book value of the car is. Doesn't matter how much you owe on it or how much you paid for it. This is the way it has always worked for me when I had accident damage. Do an online value for your car on the Kelley blue book site, that should give you some idea if you are getting shafted.
