Q: How to disarm alarm on 2005 Hyundai Elantra?
I have lost the fob but still have a spare key. Is there anyway to disarm the system so that I can start the car? I am a collage student and paying to have it towed to a dealership and reprogram a fob would be hundreds of dollars. Could Hyundai really have made this system so poorly.....?
A: put the key in the drivers door and try to lock and unlock the door. That work with most.
Q: Hyundai Elantra 2005 air conditioner occasionally fails to come on: Why?
It's a great car. Recently, after I've been driving for twenty minutes or more, and then I stop and turn off the car, the air conditioner will fail to turn on when I start the car again. It will remain off for a few minutes. The AC control panel lights are on, but no air blows out. Then, it eventually comes on after a few minutes of driving, and it runs great. Plenty of cold air. No strange noises. Is something over-heating? Is it a wiring problem? Could it have something to do with fluids? Could a belt be going? Is it going to be expensive? 2005 Hyundai Elantra Experts, HELP!
A: if no air is blowing out its related to the blower motor. if it works on 4th speed and none of the others the problem is the resistor block. otherwise i'd check the relay and then the blower motor itself.
Q: 2005 Hyundai Elantra -Mileage?
My 2005 Elantra which used to give 28mpg now gives only 15-16 mpg in the city and abt 25mpg on the hwy. It has abt 32,000miles on it. Will a regular tune-up take care of this or is it a bigger trouble? Should I use premium fuel?
A: i mechanic for a living,,and it should be getting a little better than that ,id say a good tune up will help it,,when you have it done have them check everything those usually get real good mileage,,but id say right now your in need of a good thorough tune up and that should bring the mileage back up again,,good luck hope this help,s.
Q: what is the cause of a yellow engine light on a 2005 Hyundai Elantra?
A: It could be a number of things. I would suggest going to you local AutoZone, or Advanced Auto Parts to have them read your cars computer code. They will do it for free, and it takes less than 5 min.
Q: 2005 Hyundai Elantra, making a clunk noise rhythmically in rear driver tire area when brake applied gently?
The noise goes away if I brake hard. The clunk slows as I slow...what is it and how much to fix? Can I plead defective something or other??It has less than 10,000 miles on it and I've had it for 14 months.
I'm going to the dealership in 2 days to have them look at it.
A: i think it's a warped rotor/drum, which if not warranty covered, is a rather expensive job since it entails replacing the rest of the brake components too. luckily for you, hyundai has one of the nation's best warranties and should pay for it. there's no way you could have warped a rotor/drum that quickly without leaving the parking brakes on and driving down the freeway, and since you never noticed the car smelling like burning steel, i doubt that's the case. manufacturer defect i'd surmise.
Q: My 2005 hyundai elantra alarm is going crazy!?
I have a 2005 hyundai elantra with 47,000 miles on it. Earlier today I tried to unlock it using the remote. It wouldn't unlock so I used the key to open the door. This caused the alarm to go off and the car won't start. I reset the alarm per the dealer service managers instructions, but by that point the battery was dead. I jumped the car, allowed it to run for approx 2 min, turned it off, and when I tried to restart it, it wouldn't turn over. I then got out of the car and locked it using the remote, and unlocked it using the remote, but when I opened the door again, the alarm went off, again. It is still going off now which I assume it will do until the battery is completely dead. I plan on taking it to the dealer to get fixed but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what to expect. Do I have a short in the alarm, a battery problem, or an alternator problem?
A: sounds like a battery issue, have battery checked out along with charging system
Q: How do I convert my car's gasoline engine to ethanol or E-85 (2005 Hyundai Elantra)?
A: Cars that run on E-85 are specially calibrated so that the fuel sensors in the engine "sense" the energy level in the fuel. Since E85 cars can run on anything from pure gasoline all the way up to E85, the engine needs to be able to detect the amount of energy in the fuel you're putting in.
The "rubber parts" do not need to be replaced. All newer cars (those built after 1980) can handle ethanol. The only thing you may need to do more often if you put ethanol in an older car is change the fuel filter. Ethanol tends to clean out gunk and make the engine perform better.
I would not recommend converting a car to accept E85 because it could void your manufacturer's warranty.
Q: what kind of transmission fluid can be used on a Hyundai 2005 Elantra?
A: I bought a used Elantra in Indiana last week and saved some cash. I haven't had any problems yet. I only buy used cars. http://www.findusedcardealer.com
Q: I am planning on buying a 2005 Hyundai Elantra I need to figure out how much my tags to the car would be?
A: Tags are usually around $170 for 2 years in Maryland, not sure about the state you live in.
Q: how can i remove a brake drum from 2005 hyundai elantra?
A: This is the procedure I found for a 1998 elantra. Go to www.autozone.com and check the repair info for the 1998 Elantra. If your rear drums look like the photos , use this procedure.
Remove the dust cap....
Remove the outer wheel bearing and then slide the drum from the spindle
If the drum is difficult to remove, remove the plug from the rear of the backing plate....
push the self adjuster lever away from the star wheel and rotate the star wheel to retract the shoes
Q: The dealership of my hyundai elantra model 2005 said that I need to change my accessory belt soon?
My car has 38000 miles. Will it be time to change this accessory belt or the dealer is just pressuring me on this to purchase the belt.thanks
A: Even with low k's, the belt could show signs of deterioration (3 yrs old) , small little cracks in the rubber belt. It's preventative maintenance to change it. If it breaks you lose accessories like alternator, power steering, a/c. You should get a second opinion. You can also purchase the belt at an auto supply shop (a bit cheaper) and keep it in the car until its needed. To get all the life you can out of your old belt. Or change it and keep the old as a emergency spare.
Q: Is a hyundai 2005 elantra Hatchback a good buy from Ebay for 6,000 dollars without any kind of a warranty?
I was looking on Ebay for a Cheap car and i happened to look at a Hyundai Elantra Hatchbook 2002 on Ebay. It looks like it does not have a lot of trunk space, but that is all right with me. I need something that looks a little cool that will get me from point A to B. I am in school and i am working, so I really dont have a lot of time to go looking for cars. But i just need a lot of other people's input before i go ahead and put my trust into Ebay for something that expensive. I would really rather buy from a Official Hyundai dealership, but i am not sure if they offer warranties for used cars.
A: If you are the second owner of the car you get the 2nd owner warranty from hyundai. 60,000 miles 5 years, check the owners manual for the warranty card or call hyundai america. I know for sure because I'm the second owner and picked up the warranty. Great car and don't appreciate by 1/2 as somebody claims.
Q: how to program remot for a 2005 hyundai elantra?
A: Every source of information I have at my disposal is telling me that the remotes must be programmed at the dealership by hooking up a diagnostic computer. I was hoping to find a simple way, but this is all I found.
