Q: Where exactly is the hood plunger / switch located on a 2006 Hyundai Accent?
I'm not 100% sure if I have the terminology down, but what I'm looking for is to locate a little switch (like a plunger) somewhere under the hood of my car (a 2006 Hyundai Accent) that detects when my hood is opened or closed. It's function is comparable to the little plastic knob inside a refrigerator door (when it opens the light goes on, and of course, when it closes the light goes off). Same idea, except for the hood of a car.
I don't know if it'll help you to answer my question, but the reason I'm looking for this hood plunger / switch is because I need to manually press it in order to program my remote starter keychain & the manual (also verified by a technical support rep. from the manufacturer of the remote starter) states I have to press it as part of the programming steps.
If you can include a digital picture of where this is located that would be an instant BEST ANSWER.
A: The switch is located under the hood next to the right fender. The rubber piece is attached to the hood and pushes it down when it's closed. It's called a pad lid switch by hyundai. Look just behind the right headlamp. Sorry no picture, could not copy it.
Q: Will 2006 Hyundai starter be covered under Warranty?
Battery is ok, it will click few times but won't start. Is starter cvered under Hyundai warranty? It's Hyundai Accent 3 DR , 25 months old.
A: should be a starter bad more likely dirty battery cables or battery if its clicks clean your cables or jump start it dont think you need a starter and its not covered unless you have bumper to bumper really most likely your battery cables dirty always the first thing to try cleanning them by removing cable and brushing the black off inside cables and on battery and try to start again if it dont start then try to jump start if it starts drive to a parts store or a shop and ask them to check charging system best to know before you spend money on parts you dont need and starter would be last thing to go bad dirty cable then battery the alterantor then starter
Q: How does the Hyundai Accent compare to the Toyota Corolla?
How do these two cars compare on reliability and driving experience? 2006 or 2007 models.
A: neither drives well. the accent is MUCH cheaper and has a better warranty. the corolla is long term more reliable. the accent is more reliable than most think. the accent is one of the 2 lowest price per fuel economy sold in the US.
actually the accent compares more directly to the yaris, with which it compares favorably. the corolla compares with the elantra, which right now is a much HIGHER rated car with a better warranty.
Q: How much can I expect to take off when I'm buying a used car?
I found a used 2006 Hyundai Accent for about $12,500. Personally I think I can get either $1,000 or maybe even $2,000 off, but I'm not sure. It has 25,055 miles and has power windows, locks, steering and it's an automatic. Can anyone tell me about how much I'll be able to knock off? Thanks
A: For that car you could easily take off $2000 dollars. Those cars loose the value like crazy. Don't be afraid to knock a couple of thousand down.
Q: I still owe money on my car, but need to sell it...what to do?
I have a 2006 Hyundai Accent, which I still owe about $5,000 on. I am moving to New York, so will be selling it as I will not need a car there. KBB says my car is worth about $8,500. The question I have is how I can still sell the car without having the title since I still have money owed on it?
Thanks
A: You don't.
You either sell it for how much you owe, at a minimum.
Or you pay the difference.
Either way, the vehicle must be paid off, before you can transfer it. Until then, the vehicle belongs to the bank, not to you. So, you have no sale rights.
So, you can sell it at $8500, then send the bank 5 grand, and keep the remainder. And until the bank gets the money, the transaction isn't completed.
Edit: wow, thumbs down, on a true and legal answer? That's funny.
Q: Hyundai Accent - 2004?
I was in an accident in 2006. I thought my brakes locked, causing me to rear end a truck. I have permanent back damage. The accident happened so fast that I couldn't be certain what happened. 3 weeks ago, they locked for real and I would have injured 3 other people had I not had room to slide in the road. Should I seek counsel? Does anyone know if Hyundais have this problem? Is their anything I can do. I herniated a disc in my back and am in pain management for chronic pain. I can no longer coach or walk for extended periods of time. When I wrecked the car, I assumed responsibility, but the 2nd time it happened, it really made me wonder. Please help!!
A: If you 'thought' your brakes locked the first time, you should have had them checked to 'be sure'.
Were you wearing your seatbelt? Did the airbags deploy? What were the road and weather conditions? Wet road? Bald tires? Following too closely? Had your attention diverted by something else? Ever had the brakes serviced? Not just pads/rotors, but an actual service. Rust causes problems in all types of brakes. Do you perform the suggested maintenance at regular intervals?
When you ask about seeking counsel, are you indicating you want to sue Hyundai Motors? What did the police report say? If you were ticketed or in any other way cited for the responsibility of the accidents, then you'd be wasting your money. Your accident is over 2 years old... I'd be surprised if any attorney would take the case. Unless you stopped driving the car in 2006 and stored it somewhere, you wouldn't be able to prove it was mechanical and not operator error.
Sounds like you were going quite fast, if your injuries are any indication. You may want to consider slowing down and allowing the 2 second rule to save you the hassle next time. As for the original question, No, Hyundai's do not have brake problems that result in major accidents.
Q: how can i turn off the o/d off indicator light on my car?
I have a 2006 hyundai accent, and my car just all of a sudden had the o/d indicator light on, i don't think i pressed anything. when i turned on my car, it just suddenly appeared. What do i do to turn the light off? please help.
A: that is your over drive indicator for hiway driving...you want to use your o/d...as you will save on gas. the o/d switch is usually on the shift handle.
Read your owners manual.
Good luck!
Q: 1600 mile trip, need advice?
I'm going to be driving from Seattle to Minneapolis. I am driving a 2006 Hyundai Accent .
Is there anything I need to do to my car to prepare it for the trip, or anything I will need to do like halfway there?
Also, the trip wouldn't have an effect on my engine would it? Don't have to worry about it overheating? Don't think so, but just want to make sure. Any other reccomendations glady appreciated too.
A: id do a fresh oil change to it if it hasn't already been done, and have it checked, its new enough that you shouldn't have any problems from it,just to be safe when i go on a long trip like this i always carry a gallon of anti freeze in the trunk ,just in case, you never know when your on the road, have a good trip, that's a lot of miles to drive, been there and done it,enjoy it.
Q: Which car would be best for me to buy?
*** A LITTLE BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON ME ***
My car recently broke down for good. I was not anticipating having to buy a new car so suddenly. I'm trying to pay off credit card debts and debts from college so I can finally move out of my parents' house. I don't want to spend a whole lot for a car, but I want something that will last a while and be reliable. I drive a lot (work is a 30 mi away, I work 5 days a week, doctor appt's once a week, 90 mi of driving both ways on that day including driving to work).
I'm considered a high-risk driver on insurance until the end of September '09. Anything above a 2006 is too expensive to insure.
I don't know much about cars and I've been hearing a lot of mixed reviews on the three I have chosen. Here are the three:
*** THE THREE CARS I'M LOOKING AT ***
1. 2005 Dodge Stratus
42,000 mi
$6,995
Power everything
Cruise control
4 Cylinder
2. 2006 Hyundai Accent
51,279 mi
$7,995
4 Cylinder
3. 2006 Chevy Cobalt LS
27,000 mi
$9,000
4 Cylinder
Cruise Control (I think ...)
Comes with GM 100,000 mi bumper to bumper warranty with roadside assistance, etc.
*** WHY I CAN'T DECIDE ***
Chevy's seem to get mixed reviews. Some really like them, some think they're junk.
Same for the Dodge Stratus. Some really like them (like my dad who knows a lot about cars), some don't (my boyfriend who said the Stratus was built after the Intrepid, which was built after his crappy Eagle Vision.) The Stratus also gets mixed reviews on Edmunds.com. A lot of people seem to have transmission problems with them.
Accents get good reviews. Even though the Accent doesn't have the best mileage in the bunch or a warranty, the reputation makes me notice it.
The awesome GM warranty on the Cobalt and the extremely low mileage is a huge threat to the other two, however, my 65-year old mentor (pretty smart guy involved in politics, economy, etc), says GM is on its way out, and while someone will inevitably buy it out, my warranty might not be any good.
Does anyone have any input on this? Any suggestions for which car I should pick?
/*** RESPONSE **/
I know that Toyotas and Hondas are the best. I really want a Toyota Yaris, however, they are newer models and not only cost more, but I cannot insure them. Honda Civics, even years old and with lots of miles on them still run around $15,000 ... wayyyy too much. Same with Nissans. I have looked into them all. I don't want to spend over 9k and I don't want to get a car older than a 2005.
Autotrader is where I found these three.
I live in Indiana.
A: get the Hyundai,
but only if the price is low, they are reliable but have a terrible resale value.
the cobalt is a cavalier with new clothes, avoid it.
the dodge is one of the most unreliable cars on the road.
btw the Toyota Yaris is junk compared to the Honda Fit.
Q: My side mirror is cracked.?
I drive a 2006 Accent Hyundai. The right side mirror of my car was damaged by a tree. The glass is fine, but the plastic covering is cracked open. How much is it going to take to fix it?
A: Difficult to answer without more info but here's a link hope it helps
Q: where to buy a cheap used car..?
i want to buy a cheap used good car (couple). & i m lookin to modify it completley including changing whole body with carbon fiber, & all light weight parts, body kits. Turbochargers, nitrous oxide kit, engine swap, ecu remapping, suspension changing, & all that.
I am thinking of nissan skyline(1999), hyundai accent (2006-2007), honda city (2006-2007)
suggest me which car will be best for these mods.
A: Out of the cars mentioned the Skyline is the better option but this is providing you have the means to get one where you live.Cheaper option would be to go for the GT.GT4,GTT version as these are still tunable and a lot cheaper to buy than the GTR version.
Also look at the R32 and the R33 which again offer different model versions with each offering different bhp figures and again tunable.
Modding a skyline, there are plenty of after market parts out there and plenty of tuning parts ,the RB series engines can take some punishment and what makes the skyline popular the World over is the way it takes to simple mods but gives plenty of power.
Good luck with what you get iam going for the R34 very soon as selling my spec 2 R33 before that we had an R32.
Try ebay and if you are US look at.

Q: Should every vehicle have the name of the make/model on the outside?
My car (2002 Hyundai Accent) has the make and the model of the car on the outside of the trunk. My husband's (2006 Sonata) does not have it anywhere. It has the H in the front grill but it does not say Hyundai Sonata anywhere on the outside of it. I have never seen this before. Every other Sonata I have seen has it on the trunk.
A: no it is not needed. You can have cars ordered without.
Q: Purchasing first car, needing to know some things..?
I'm 19 years old and from Pennsylvania (if this info helps any.)
I was driving a 2006 Hyundai Elantra, bought brand new by my dad; but because of circumstances, he needs it back which leaves me finding a car on my own.
I'm looking for something either new and cheap (considering, if I'd qualify for a new Hyundai accent, or something small along those lines).. or something used with low miles which would run decent and last a long time without any major problems.
-Any suggestions on cars?
-I have someone who would co-sign for me, and have had good credit (student credit card) for the past 9 months-always paying off the debt.
-I'm also in the Army National Guard, if that would be of any help.
-What about just leasing a vehicle as well for a year (I get a huge enlistment bonus around this time next year).. and if someone could explain leasing to me and how cheap I could possibly lease a car for monthly.
If I'm going to purchase a car, I don't want a piece of junk (been there!)..
A: Hyundai is a decent vehicle, for the first year or two. Then they start having problems.
If you are looking for strictly inexpensive from new, Chevy Aveo is the cheapest vehicle in America currently.
I would suggest if you are looking for new to go check out the mazda 3. I just bought one, and I love it. Exceptional car. Base model around 14 grand.
Basically, all japanese car companies are known for good gas mileage, and good longevity of the car. Toyota is number one for quality, followed by honda, nissan, and mazda. I gently used honda civic, nissan sentra, or toyota corolla would be excellent, assuming it was kept in good shape. You can destroy anything if you really want to, or you can make anything last 200,000+ miles.
I would definitely not recommend leasing the vehicle if you want to keep it for more than the allotted time. You end up paying more to buy out the lease than you do to buy the car, and usually payments are about the same. Only difference is usually after three years, you get to look into getting another one, and don't have to deal with any possible headaches from the car getting older.
