Q: Does anyone know where the dashboard light fuse would be located in the fuse box a for 2003 hyundai accent?
A: I do believe it is in the engine bay fuse box and is a diode not a fuse. It is a little fuse-like thing with an arrow pointing one direction.

Actually, if it's a fully loaded 2003 Hyundai Accent GT Hatchback 2D from a dealer, with a warrenty, that's not too much of a mark-up.
Q: 2003 Hyundai Accent timing belt?
I was recently advised by my Hyundai dealer to have my timing belt changed since I have over 97,000km and they advise it at 96,000? Has anyone out there changed it as advised or left it go for 10 or 20 thousand more kms without having it go while driving?
A: While I'm not really qualified to answer the question since I've never owned an Accent, I do know a thing about the reason they advise you to replace it. If it breaks under the bumper-to-bumper warranty, anything it takes with it would be repaired or replaced at no charge.
Replacement at the required interval keeps your powertrain warranty in effect. If you do not have the powertrain warranty (you are the second or more owner) the warranty does not require you to replace it.
Having said that, I have seen them run perfectly fine without the change at the precise mileage. Just remember, the belt is only rubber - water, heat and age are big enemies.
Hyundai engines are 'interferrence' engine. Meaning, there is little to no clearance between the pistons and valves. When the belt breaks, timing is interrupted and more often than not, the pistons and valves collide, causing (sometimes massive) internal damage.
When I say break, it isn't in the sense that the belt shreds and flies off. The 'teeth' of the belt get sheared off by the camshaft because they are weak from age. In response, the cam stops moving but the crankshaft continues usually allowing the pistons to contact with the unmoving valves.
Unfortunately you cannot tell the condition of the belt by looking at it because they all seem to be in decent condition with the exception of the teeth.
If you don't have the cash, you don't have the cash. Not much you can do about that, save robbing a bank (disclaimer:I do not suggest robbing a bank:-) Get it done as soon as you can.
Q: Is my 2003 Hyundai Accent worth fixing?
The engine in my Accent blew on Monday. Here's the situation. There is still a $4,300 loan left on the car. It has 70,853 miles on it. The heads on the engine can be replaced for $1,500. A brand new engine would cost $3,000 (would make the engine worth almost as much as the car). Or we can have a used engine put in the car from North Carolina (I'm in New Jersey) for $2,000. At this point I only have a temporary job, which ends in March, and cant get a new car. My father is offering me his 99 Nissan Sentra with 150,000 miles on it (I really dont want it, its making all sorts of odd noises plus the car is really hard to drive and I despise driving that car). Is the car worth fixing?
The timing belt was replaced last year at 60,000 miles.
A: I would get the new motor, you can find it for cheaper.
Q: 2003 Hyundai Accent Fuel Filter?
Where is it? OK, don't snicker at the question. I followed the fuel line out of the gas tank up to the intake manifold as best I could- couldn't find it. The replacement filter looks like a standard in-ine filter which goes on a 1/4" line someplace on the body. I realy don't think its in the gas tank. An easy 10 points for anybody who can help me.

A: For Hyundai Accent using engine LC Petrol 4 1495cc G4EC2 MPFI, fuel filter is inline filter with 8 mm inlet / outlet.
The fuel filter is located under the rear seat, near the fuel pump.
Q: Which among honda city(2000-2003) and hyundai accent is better?
Which among honda city(2000-2003) and hyundai accent is better? What about the mantainance of both the cars? And wat is the mileage(average) of Hyundai Accent and accent viva?
also mileage of city in both variants i.e 1.5 and 1.3?
A: Honda is obviously a better choice. being a Japanese company honda have a better technology and the life of the engine is more as compared to Hyundai- a korean brand. if u talk about the diesel variant then i would suggest Hyundai bcoz its still in demand(which means it has a good resale value) and have a much better average. Hyundai accent comes in both diesel and petrol variant, viva comes in diesel engine. now it depends on ur needs that u want a luxury or car for daily use, for the latter case viva is better choice bcoz its not worth spending 20000 more for a little bigger size(for diesel variant) and average is around 16km/hr without ac and 13-14km/hr with it.
Honda's 1.3 lt variant have an average of 12-13 and 1.5 lt have around 10km/hr but it has got better speed and horse power. finally i would say Go for Honda 1.5 if u want a petrol car and Hyundai Viva if u want diesel.
Q: is a clutch master cylinder considered as a component on a Hyundai accent 2003 ,100,000mi.warranty.?
hyundai dealer repaired my clutch master cylinder and stated that it is not under warranty because it is not a component of the transmission.
A: Its best to check - ask your dealer.
Not sure which country you are from but in Australia it is a warrantable item IF the car is under warranty AND it has not been tampered with in any way!
The best line I have ever read in my life "The large print giveth, and the fine print taketh away......" Brilliant analogy
Q: Gas Gauge on 2003 Hyundai Accent GSI?
I filled my vehicle up last night, and the gauge was normal (indicated a full tank). Between driving to work this morning and driving home, something happened to my gauge. It now indicates the tank as half full. I filled it again tonight (mainly to see if it had been siphoned) but only 5L was needed to fill it, and when I started the car, the gauge only showed it as half full. Any ideas for me on how to fix this, without taking it to the dealership?
Took it in to the dealer to check it - and they said it was the Tank Sanding Unit - that sound correct?
A: Normally the problem is the fuel sender in the tank. It is the float that tells the gauge how much is in the tank. It is a time-consuming repair, even for trained technicians because you have to take out the rear seat to access the top of the tank through the floor and remove the fuel pump to change the sender.
You may have a hard time finding someone qualified to work on it. Unfortunately, the dealer is usually the best (maybe not the cheapest) way to go.
If you purchased an extended or HPP warranty, it may be covered at no charge.
Q: What tires should I buy for a 2003 Hyundai Accent?
I don't know anything about cars or maintaning them, but I need to be tires as the cables are showing on all 4 of my tires. Also I'm broke, and can't afford to spend more than I need. Where should I go/What tires do I need to buy? How much am I looking to spend? I need to get an alignment too, and I'd prefer to do it all at the same time. *ANY ADVICE IS APPRECIATED*!! I live in Georgia, so I don't need special winter tires.
A: first check you owner's manual, it will tell you. If you've misplaced it, call any local auto parts stor and give them the year/make/model of your car and you can get it that way. As far as getting decent tires at the cheapest price,, try a discount tire place. In my local town, there is a place called the "Shock Shop" they buy tires from brand new crashed cars and sell them for about 1/4 of the cost of a new one.
Q: I recently bought a 2003 model Hyundai Accent CRDi which has done 40,000 kms , what mileage should I expect?
A: 30+ mpg
Q: Do you know why my Accent is jerking?
I have an automatic 2003 Hyundai Accent and it has 40,000 miles on it. This summer I noticed it started "jerking". It usually happens when I would get into my car after work, start it up and put it into reverse or drive. It would jerk forward quickly and then do it again a few more times while I'm driving until it goes away. It would then become sluggish in accelerating after stopping at a light. Now it even jerks on the highway, but instead of going away, right away it will shift into this weird mode that sounds like a deep noise at about 60+ mph. It sounds fine at 55.
I noticed it happens after my car has been sitting in heat for a long period of time and doesn't go away until I turn my car off and then on again. My check engine light does not go on.
I also brought it into the dealership to check it out, but since it doesn't "act up" for them (since it's spontaneous) they can't fix it. I have been driving with this problem for about 5-6 months.
A: An educated guess would be a problem with the EVAP system possibly the canister close valve not opening and pressure builds up in the fuel tank.Take it back to dealer and ask them to check the evaporative emmission system for faults
Q: Where in Austin, TX would be a good place to get my Hyundai's clutch replaced?
I have a 2003 Hyundai Accent with a manual transmission. I've got about 140K miles on it and I need to get the clutch replaced. I know how to do it but I just don't have the time. I'm trying to find an honest place that's cheaper than taking it to the dealership.
A: hmmm....I can tell you now...STAY AWAY FROM DYER! They skrewed up my tranny. Meyer transmission worked pretty good for me, colemans is supposed to be good. Check around...there are alot of auto shops off of Lamar.
Check with the dealership, see how much they want, and then check the differant transmission places. ALWAYS compare prices on Tranny work. and always make sure you get detailed paperwork of what they fix and what they do. Tranny work is a hassle to keep up on. I keep saying tranny, because the clutch is in the tranny.
Q: Are hyundai accent's good cars?
I am looking to buy a 2003 accent. I like that car and i know they are good on gas. Any opinion?
A: I have a 2001 Tiburon with 120,123 miles on it, a friend with a 2002 Elantra with 80,000+ miles and another friend with a 2001 Accent with about 80,000+ miles and none of us have had any problems whatsoever so I would say they are pretty good. They were total junk before 1996 but have slowly been getting better ever since. Oneday people will stop pissing on things without knowing anything about them.
Q: Hyundai Accent Wheel Cylinder Change?
i have a hydundai Accent 2003 and mileage 55k on it. Since lst week break hav become tough n requires hard pedal to apply, when i took to Tires Plus they recommend to replace the wheel cylinder and brake system flush which costs 330, will i get it done some where else at low cost? Advice plz
A: The wheel cylinders, if indeed leaking, are covered under the 5 year/ 60,000 mile warranty (even if you're the 10th owner). A dealer, using your VIN, can determine the 'warranty start date' of your vehicle. If you are beyond the 5 year mark, new cylinders from Hyundai do run about $30.00 each.
The shop of course, has to buy them from someone, then they in turn mark up the price to make a small profit for themselves. This is normal and expected.
You shouldn't need to flush the system unless it has been 'opened' many times and is contaminated. Brake fluid is a clear amber-tinted color. Ask them why they recommend changing it if there is no contamination.
If price is a concern, have them print you a quote and take it around to a few other shops, see if any will beat it. Make sure you get some kind of warranty or guarantee on parts and labor. Hyundai warranties their parts and labor for 1year/ 12,000 miles.
Q: Hyundai Accent? 2002-2005?
I'm saying goodbye to my beautiful Wrangler, and going for something that is really cheap on gas. I have a link: A 2003 Accent for just under 5 G's. Mileage is just under 100 G's. A lot of people are warning me against Hyundais...
I need something affordable really quick. If anyone owned or currently owns an Accent, please let me know the ups and downs.
Also, does it affect insurance, due to being a 3 door ride?
:) thanks.
A: I worked as a mechanic for about 7 years in a Hyundai dealership and found the Accent to be a very reliable little car. They gave very few problems in the years that you are looking at. The down side is that the cost of servicing is a little more expensive, But probably around the same as you wer spending on the Wrangler. The best way to check out how much servicing will cost is to check out service centres in your local area. The cost of insurance should be cheaper than the Wrangler also. Hope this is of some help to you..
