Q: How Do I change the Alternator Belt on my 2000 Hyundai Accent?
It seems simple, but I usually have run into problems in the past on Simple Jobs

A: Hyundai did not use automatic tensioners in 2000. You have a tensioner but it is a manual tensioner. You have to loosen the bolt on the side of the tensioner. Then you turn the other bolt counter clockwise to loosen the bolt which will loosen the tensioner. Then you have to loosen the big bolt that is on the other side of the alternator. You may have to take off your power steering belt to get to the alternator belt. Reverse the procedure to install it. GL

Q: my 2000 hyundai accent wont start sometimes?
i bought it from my friend and she said she had the same problem. the battery and starter were both checked and they are fine. the first week i had it i didnt have any problems, now it doesnt want to turn over. i havent had its oil changed yet and i dont know if the filters are ok cause i cant start it to get it over to the place i get the oil changed!! any ideas?

A: Check if the battery has got residual voltage of at least 12 volts (if less/lower voltage, replace battery, you may need a Vehicle Electrician) Check if there are bubbles liberated as you crank the engine (if one cell or more does/do not bubble, the battery needs replacement, you may need a Vehicle Electrician) Disconnect all cable terminals from battery to the starter motor. Clean them with clean dry cloth. Fix them back and make sure the terminals are properly secured (you m ay need a Vehicle Electrician) Remove the starter motor and test if it does rotate when power is applied (you may need a Vehicle Electrician) Most likely one/all of these: the battery, the starter motor, the starter switch needs attention Check if the air filter is clogged (replace if it is clogged/dirty)

Q: 2000 hyundai accent starts rough and spits sputters first 30 sec obd code reader pulls up codes--ideas to fix?
my 2000 accent is rough starting and sluggish as hell to respond to the throttle the first min or two when you start it...obd code reader pulls up 02 sensor heater circuit malfunction bank1 sensor 2 and bank 1 again sensor 3 i replaced o2 sensor by manifold few months ago..so i dont think 02 sensor by manifold is prob again? (its not pulling up that code again) Are there 2 o2 sensors on this car? it was tuned uo w plugs wires last year, so i think im ok there?...what else can i do? It actually misfires it starts and runs so rough the first 30 secs...i thought it was an EGR problem...could somebody tell me the most likely probs..or things i could do to fix or figure out the problem?

A: i have a '97 sonata and it did this to me. i fixed the majority of the problem with a complete tune up, cap and rotor plugs, and wires and you would be surprised what a difference that alone made. i also think that my timing may have jumped a little. how many miles on your car????? that would tell a lot more. did this problem just all of a sudden occur or did it start off with other problems??? about the question "are there two o2 sensors, look closer to the catalytic convertor. that is were my 2nd one is on my sonata.

Q: I have a 2000 Hyundai Accent with a broke timing belt... guaranteed disaster or maybe not interference?
Any info tips or links are appreciated. This is actually my moms car and she doesn't have the money to drop a grand at the mechanic. Advice on the easiest way to repair also appreciated. Thanks in advance

A: I hate to tell you the bad news.. You broke the timing belt on an interference motor. It is about 95% likely that the pistons slammed into the valves at about 2000-4000 RPM, causing catastrophic damage to the cylinder head. You're going to need a timing belt, new valves (cylinder head rebuilt), and maybe a new cylinder head. You may also need new pistons, depending on the severity of the damage. You're looking at $1000-$3000 worth of damage to repair. Changing a timing belt is NOT a simple DIY process! Only a competent, trained mechanic with the correct tools should attempt this. Always change your timing belt at the scheduled service interval to avoid catastrophic damage to your motor.

advice on replacing front window wipers , not just the rubbers would be appreciated.ihave purchased a wiper blade set, but am a little apprehensive about doing the job.

Q: Is a 2000 Hyundai Accent Worth repairing?

Q: How to test a crank angle sensor / hyundai accent 2000?
I have a crank angle sensor that is possible faulty, is there a procedure to test this sensor on or off the vehicle / engine will not run / ingnition timing appears to be out.

A: Check for pulse and spark. if you have neither or the pulse at the injectors is a continuous feed the CKP (crank angle position sensor) is fault. you can pick up the noid light and high energy spark testers from any good auto store. If the timing is out then the CKP is the problem. Failing that it is time for a new ECU. good luck. To extract the fault codes you need an OBD scanner. Somthing ordinary folk dont have the money for.
